lobsterfest family reunion or wedding? why not both?

I’m a sucker for a backyard wedding. Oh, these types of weddings are so intimate, lively, and endlessly customizable to what is important to you on your big day. My own wedding was held in my parents’ backyard, so when Corinne inquired if Jessamine would be available for her and Brett’s backyard wedding — and there was a THEME! — I was all over it.

Every year, Cory’s family from all over the country gathers at her parent’s residence for a family reunion dubbed “Lobsterfest”. As described to me, Lobsterfest is a rowdy time ingesting tons of seafood, cooling off in a big ass pool (dogs included), kicking back with family and laughing a lot. It was important to me that the 2023 Wedding Edition of Lobsterfest maintained its relaxed and fun atmosphere with unfussy floral design and seafood inspired tablescapes. Centering details around the idea of gathering and eating, I chose floral ingredients that doubled as decoration and cooking ingredients. Herbs such as fragrant rosemary stalks, flowering mint and potted basil were paired with styled lemons and clamshells to pull together the peachy flower palette with some coastal blues.

The wedding party were the couples’ two Very Important Pups who rocked lush maid of honor dog floral collars. We support a furry wedding party!
