when planning your wedding, what’s top on your list of priorities? is it incredible catering? your show stopping outfit? funky flowers? what if it’s all three? let’s be so for real though– what if it’s everything? with the local look’s elopement styled shoot, we show you there’s no need to choose when you’ve assembled the right vendors: we got you.
weddings at la mondina in brielle are a fun, intimate affair. think sunday dinner at nonna’s in the spring time complete with red sauce, candle light, and lace tablecloths. it’s grandma-core with espresso martinis; a little vintage, a little modern and a lot laid back to fully enjoy your wedding celebration with your nearest and dearest.
THE SHOOT
it was such a joy to collaborate with the local look and alyssa mancini‘s initial inspiration to come up with a flower palette that felt easy and cool, just like the personalities of lovebird models frank + frankie. the sweet signage by mia and co brought such a fun flair. a. crosby creative‘s menu cards brought the table to life, and serendipitously the fruit I brought to style the table matched her menus perfectly– and honestly those shots with red currants are probably my favorite of the whole shoot! extremely talented gabrille padilla did a gorgeous job perfecting frankie’s hair and glowy make up and fbm bridal‘s vintage inspired dress cocktail dress was to die for. dressing up confection’s of a rock star lambeth styled pink heart cake with a cake meadow was a personal highlight – cake decorators are so talented and my personal belief is that flowers should accent the cake, not overpower it! after the shoot, pics by smit‘s video hit my inbox and i cried. she beautifully captured frank and frankie’s fun spirit. alyssa is a consummate photographer. her work has a polished editorial feel but her eye is always on the candid moments and her shots of frank and frankie eating their wedding cake on the floor are beyond wild and special. the overall art direction and precise attention to detail from ashley of the local look was a thrill to be a part of and i really thank ashley for including me in this all star cast of coastal new jersey wedding vendors!
PERSONALS
for frankie’s wedding bouquet, i chose to lean into the current petite bouquet trend and focused on only a few floral varieties for a textured punch. dreamy nerine lilies, butter yellow lisianthus and light pink astilbe created a soft mass of unique shape and movement that perfectly complemented frankie’s classic cocktail dress silhouette. for frank, i pulled all of the elements from frankie’s bouquet into one delicate boutonneiere.
TABLESCAPE
mangia! if that’s the approach towards dinner you’re looking for, creating tablescapes with lots of elements that can be easily adjusted to accommodate family style platters is the way to go. for this tablescape, we used a vintage lace tablecloth as the foundation for the soft pastel monoflorals that lined the table in chic clear bud vases, interspersed with sculptural pockets of pin frog arrangements. pulling in a mismatch of taper and pillar candles created an unfussy, easy dinner party feel. i added tomatoes and currants to the table highlighting ingredients to be used in the tasty italian feast to come. with multi courses, custom menus are such a nice way to get your guests excited for the night (and also to allow them to pace themselves LOL). cardinal provision‘s signature mismatched plates rounded out the settings. considered layered tablescapes strengthen the overall theme of the night.
STATEMENT BAR ARRANGEMENT
even at an intimate wedding, guests are going to be spending a lot of time at the bar. it’s a natural place to congregate. i always advocate for bar pieces to give your guests something spectacular to look at while they are waiting in line! a statement bar arrangement dresses up an otherwise utilitarian space. it can be used as a focal point to showcase your signature drinks and also makes for a fun photo spot once their drink is in hand.
CAKE MEADOW
the CAKE! lambeth vintage styled cakes are so popular right now and for good reason. these cakes are so cool, so intricate and proves you don’t need some huge multi-tiered towering thing to make a statement during your cake cutting! cake meadows are a perfect way to highlight and showcase baker’s insane talents without distracting from the cake itself. here, we used bright purple pops of anemones, pink nerines and butter yellow lisianthus to nestle around the heart shaped barbie pink cake. another recent trend is doing a private cake cutting. why stop the party for your guests? take a moment between you and your newlywed to enjoy arguably the most delicious portion of the night together. look no further than frank and frankie– so cute, i can’t stand it!
for a tasty, italian styled intimate wedding reception, we hope you consider la mondina as a venue. a layered tablescape with flowers, candles and tomatoes strengthens the overall “that’s amore” theme of the reception, while custom signage and cakes make the night uniquely yours.
